Background
Elias Rook handles image and video coverage. His background is in colour and compositing for post-production, which is a useful place to come from: he was already arguing about VAEs and colour space years before diffusion models made it a hobbyist concern. He started running Stable Diffusion locally in 2023, kept going through SDXL, Pony, Illustrious and Flux, and now maintains three test machines spanning an 8GB card, a 16GB card and a 24GB card so hardware claims on this site are grounded in something other than a spec sheet.
His working rule is that a technique is not worth publishing until he can reproduce the failure it fixes. That means most of what he writes about anatomy artefacts, temporal flicker and identity drift started as a deliberately broken generation, logged with its seed, sampler, CFG and step count, then fixed one variable at a time. It is slow, and it is the reason his sections carry numbers instead of adjectives.
He is also the person who reads the model licences. The distinction between what a model licence permits and what you may do with its output is one he has had to explain enough times that it now gets its own section in most of his articles.
